Paint spray guns
Are you looking for a paint spray gun for walls and ceilings? Look no further and choose a paint spray gun combined with an air compressor! Using a compressor for painting is highly convenient and offers many benefits: it not only saves you up to 3 times more time, but also delivers a flawless finish. Painting with a roller or brush can leave marks, unlike the smooth result achieved when spraying paint with a spray gun. For more details, please refer to our complete guide at the bottom of the page.

Using a compressor spray gun (pneumatic spray gun) requires an air compressor to operate it. If you do not yet have all your equipment, please visit our dedicated page on painting with a compressor for guidance on selecting the right compressor for painting.
The choice of paint spray gun depends on several factors: surface area to paint, the material to be painted, and the type of paint used.
A paint spray gun typically consists of two parts: the gun itself and a container called a cup. The cup can be located either above the gun (known as a gravity feed spray gun) or below it (called a siphon feed spray gun). A top cup is ideal for precise, low-pressure work, while a larger bottom cup is better suited for painting larger surfaces.
Best Low-Pressure Paint Spray Gun (HVLP)
The low-pressure paint spray gun, also called HVLP (high volume, low pressure), is suitable for high-quality applications on small or large surfaces, indoors or outdoors. This modern technology offers very fast paint spraying along with excellent handling.
HVLP guns are commonly used in industrial, professional, and precision work such as fine lines and details. They accommodate all types of paints (note: metallic and clear coats should be applied in thin layers).
Airpress HVLP guns operate at a service pressure of 2 to 3 bars and consume between 120 and 400 l/min of air. They also save between 10 and 30% of paint compared to other spray guns.
Best Medium-Pressure Paint Spray Gun (LVMP)
The medium-pressure spray gun, or LVMP (low volume, medium pressure), is the latest innovation on the market. It combines the benefits of HP and HVLP guns, allowing paint spraying at limited pressure and air consumption with precision application. It is ideal for tasks requiring extreme accuracy and a flawless finish.
Airpress LVMP guns operate between 2 and 3 bars, consuming 120 to 400 liters of compressed air per minute, and save 5 to 15% of paint.
An advantage of LVMP guns is their compatibility with a wide range of nozzles, suitable for spraying everything from water-based varnishes (acrylic paint) to thick or sticky coatings such as primers.
Best High-Pressure Paint Spray Gun (HP)
The high-pressure paint spray gun, or HP (high pressure), sprays paint at higher pressure than the previous types. Airpress HP guns operate at 3.5 bars with an air consumption of 320 to 340 l/min.
They are designed for covering large surfaces very quickly, where jet precision is not the main concern. Typical uses include painting ceilings or outdoor areas. For this reason, construction professionals often prefer this type of pneumatic spray gun.

How to Choose the Right Spray Gun Nozzle?
Once you have chosen the type of air spray gun, it is important to select the correct nozzle size for your application.
At Airpress, we offer nozzle sizes from 0.8 mm up to 8 mm, including a special spray gun for textured finishes with nozzles of 4, 6, and 8 mm.
Below is a table outlining the recommended uses for each nozzle size:
Nozzle Size | Recommended Use |
0.8 mm | For mini spray guns and small surface touch-ups; produces a fine mist |
1.0 mm | For mini spray guns and small surface touch-ups; produces a fine mist |
1.2 mm | Water-based or acrylic paint / varnish; ideal for fine finishes and transparent coats |
1.3 mm | Water-based or acrylic paint / varnish / solvent-based paint |
1.4 mm | Varnish / solvent-based paint; recommended for transparent coats, primers, or single coats |
1.5 mm | Suitable for most paints but not recommended for ultra-thin layers |
1.7 mm | Primer or basecoat and undercoat |
1.8 mm | Primer or basecoat with fast application |
2 mm | Thick paints, resins, and gel-like coatings |
4 / 6 / 8 mm | Putty, very thick or textured paints such as textured finishes |
Professional Paint Spray Guns: Paint Stations or Textured Spray Guns?
At Airpress, we offer two distinct types of paint spray guns beyond those described above.
First, there is the pneumatic paint station, used when very large volumes of paint need to be sprayed. In such cases, the standard spray gun cups are insufficient. This complete pneumatic station includes a spray gun with a 2 mm nozzle, two hoses of 3 and 5 meters, a pressure gauge, and an 8.5-liter galvanized tank. It requires a pressure of 1.5 to 3 bars.
Second, there is the textured spray gun, an ergonomic tool essential for spraying textured finishes, decorative or structural coatings, and liquid wallpaper. This high-pressure gun comes with three nozzles (4, 6, and 8 mm), a 5-liter cup, and operates at pressures between 4 and 8 bars with an air flow of 230-400 l/min. Its cup handle offers improved handling, and the slightly enclosed top of the cup enables more angled use. The textured spray gun is also easy to disassemble for cleaning.
