The Best Abrasive for Sandblasting? Quartz Sand by Airpress!
Sandblasting is a process that requires specialized equipment and accessories. One of the key components of a complete sandblasting set is, of course, the abrasive material — the working medium used during abrasive blasting. This material comes into direct contact with the surface being cleaned — the stream of compressed air or water only shapes and accelerates it, so it can be propelled onto the treated surface with the right pressure and force. Right after compressor efficiency and sandblasting nozzle type, the abrasive material used has the greatest impact on the effectiveness and final results of your work!
There are many types of abrasives for sandblasting — from glass derivatives, dried mineral sands, soda, limestone powders to various synthetic materials. However, for years the most popular and widely used abrasive in sandblasting processes has remained dried quartz sand. It is one of the most commonly used abrasives for anti-corrosion, renovation, and maintenance works.

Our quartz sand works perfectly both as sand for siphon sandblasters and as the abrasive for use with independent sandblasting guns. The product is also suitable for wet sandblasting with high-pressure washers or hydro sandblasters.
It is valued by a loyal and numerous group of users not only for its versatility but especially for its efficiency, resistance, and durability. The painting industry appreciates the characteristic smooth and even surface finish achieved after sandblasting with it. Professional abrasive manufacturers may offer seemingly similar products that actually differ significantly — quartz sand can vary in quartz content, moisture, treatment methods, and many other factors that essentially make each product unique.

Quartz Sand for Sandblasting – Choose Effectiveness and Safety in an Eco-Friendly Form
All products offered in this category represent truly high quality, confirmed by certificates and specialized approvals. Our quartz sand stands out for its high quartz content (up to 97%), ensuring the right properties of sand as a medium for abrasive blasting. This guarantees both the proper grain hardness (around 6-7 on the Mohs scale) and high resistance to mechanical wear, along with the characteristic low chemical reactivity of quartz.
Thanks to this, Airpress quartz sand can be used not only for light maintenance tasks, delicate renovation, or final surface smoothing but also for cleaning metal, concrete, and stone elements from tougher coatings and stubborn dirt. In all these applications, you can be sure of effective sandblasting!
Alongside glass granules and microspheres, our dried quartz sand is one of the least aggressive and least invasive abrasives for sandblasting. Thanks to the rounded grain shape and very precise material selection, Airpress sand is safe not only for sandblasting equipment but also for the surfaces being cleaned. You no longer need to worry about accidentally damaging sensitive surfaces during renovation or decorative work!

Airpress Sand for Sandblasting – Wide Range of Applications
Airpress sand for sandblasting is a carefully selected aggregate, precisely cleaned and sieved into fractions to ensure you get the highest sandblasting quality and versatile use options.
All our blends are free from any organic contaminants. Their preparation involves hydroclassification and thermal drying processes. Then the sand is dry-sieved to separate grains into fractions with specific properties. This guarantees you always choose sand that provides effective work for various tasks and surface types.

Currently, we offer two granulometric fractions of sand for sandblasting, intended for different applications.
Dried quartz sand with 0.1-0.5 mm grain size — the fine sand suitable for delicate parts and sensitive surfaces like wood or brick. Especially recommended for restoration of historic buildings, old furniture, or vehicles. It is safe for sandblasting aluminum rims, bodywork, chassis, decorative slabs, gravestones, garden architecture elements, and various decorative projects.
Dried quartz sand with 0.5-1.0 mm grain size — the medium sand, best for sandblasting harder parts and surfaces requiring deeper cleaning. Recommended for steel and reinforced concrete frames and structures, concrete floors, and paving stones. Also ideal for renovation or artistic work with harder woods like oak.
Due to its relatively low price and proven effectiveness, our sand for sandblasting is the most economical choice for professionals and amateurs alike — especially for those without abrasive recovery equipment.
WARNING: Remember that dry sandblasting using quartz sand can only be performed in designated areas and absolutely requires appropriate safety measures. Although we take all precautions to minimize dust generation, the release of silica dust during grain impact is a natural property of quartz sand. Always wear protective clothing during sandblasting, especially respiratory protection such as a specialized sandblasting mask.
